One of the few freshwater swamp forests in Bangladesh, explored by small wooden boat.
In the rainy season the forest floor floods and the boatman pushes you between the trunks of hijal and koroch trees. It is quiet, green and shaded, with kingfishers, monkeys and the occasional water snake on the branches.

June to September, when the forest stands in deep water. In the dry months the water falls and boating is limited.
Drive via Airport Road to one of the forest ghats, such as Motorghat, Ratargul ghat or Chowdhury Bazar, then hire a boat there.
Small boats take four to five people and charge per boat for about an hour. Pay the forest entry fee at the counter.
Go early in the morning for still water and birds. Keep quiet and do not throw plastic in the water.
