Jaintiapur Rajbari & Megaliths

Ruins of the Jaintia kingdom and standing stones that once marked royal ceremonies.

Jaintiapur was the seat of the Jaintia kings until the British annexed the kingdom in 1835. The brick palace is in ruins, but the menhirs and dolmens beside the highway, which Banglapedia describes as the only megaliths found so far in Bangladesh, are worth the stop. Please do not sit or climb on them.
